Kingswinford 1st XI 3 v Streetly 1st XI
4
In a tough encounter
at the Dell Stadium Streetly consolidated their position at the
top of the West Midlands Division 2 with a 4-3 victory over
Kingswinford.
Streetly started
brightly with Newton hitting the post but it was Kingswinford
that drew first blood with a by line cross being turned in by a
Streetly defender. Streetly responded within 2 minutes when Luke
Windsor levelled the scores from a short corner. Streetly
followed up with a fine Ian Newton short corner to make the
score 2-1 but again they failed to retain the initiative by
conceding a second own goal. Newton soon restored
Streetly's lead just before the break.
A frustrating second
half ensued with Streetly missing more chances at 3 - 2. When
Kingswinford got the equaliser with 10 minutes to go it seemed
it wasn't going to be Streetly's day. The final chance
fell to Streetly's Chris Booth with 5 minutes to go when he
finely edged an already net bound strike from Neil Curtis to see
Streetly maintain their 100% league record.
