Harveys Player of The Match :- Kate Stableford

Streetly Ladies firsts put on an excellent display of hockey this weekend, arguably the best they have played all season. Full of confidence and drive, the girls started off strong with some great passes between the whole team; from defence to forwards. The first goal came from captain Stableford, who found the bottom corner after deflecting it in from a Streater pass. Another goal closely followed, again from Stableford who collected the ball top D and scored from the same place. Persistence from Angie Griffin saw a goal from her after a slight scramble in the D from the Leek defence and the Streetly forwards. With the score at 3-0, Streetly confidently passed it around the midfield, keeping possession and working their way forward. New player, Lauren Wooton had a great game in the centre of midfield, starting off a move which eventually ended in a goal for her. On the stroke of half time, Stableford won the girls a penalty flick which was slotted nicely into the bottom left hand corner. With a 5-0 lead at half time, coach Booth wanted the same level of performance from the girls which they showed in the second half. 2 quick goals came from Rosie Streater off short corners made the score 7-0 to Streetly. Jenny Devereux and Michelle Kay worked well in the midfield, finding Byass on the left hand side who made a trademark run, pulling the ball back and finding the back of the net. 2 goals for Tammy Davies came next, with well worked passes between her and Streater to score a good goal. Davies’s final goal came from a good routine from the back; MacDonald to Byass, to Stableford who drove to the by-line to square left for Davies to finish. The final goal came from Griffin who coolly put away to make the final score 11-0 to the league leaders. Harveys player of the match goes to captain Kate Stableford for her hat-trick and hard work on and off the ball.
