Streetly Ladies 2nds 5 - 0 Bloxwich 4ths

Streetly 2nd team started off tremendously this week; given the fact the team had been given an opportunity to enter the league so late on. Two new players, Chloe and Abbie proved to be great assets to the side, defending and attacking excellently. The first goal came from Jayne Smewin, striking the ball at the top of the D and finding the bottom corner. Determination from the midfield, Dartnell, Farrow, Peers and Costello saw well worked passing and Streetly looked dangerous going forward. The determination paid off with the ball being crossed in to Dartnell who made no mistake in finding the net.

After a half time team talk, the girls came out just as strong, defending from the front and giving everything when tackling. A well deserved goal for Emily Peers came after some brilliant passing between the midfield and forwards, closely followed by another deserved goal for new player Abbie Seamen, collecting the ball on the penalty spot and sweeping it into the bottom corner. Streetly were then awarded a short corner, resulting in a goal from a straight strike from Stableford. An excellent start from the second team, with only positives coming out of it. Next week sees them in action again with their first game at their home ground against Cannock.

Harveys player of the match goes to Emily Peers for her determination on the ball and her excellent skill in the midfield.

Streetly Ladies 2nds 3 - 5Lichfield 5ths.

The second team travelled to Lichfield this week after a cancelled game the week before to be faced with a goal festered result where they all played excellently. The girls were 2-0 down in the first 20 minutes and two quick goals from Davies kept Streetly in it. Some excellent battling and persistence from Emily Peers made her stand out in the midfield and some excellent positional awareness from new player Jenie Byass saw the girls well up for the task ahead. It was 2-2 at the break and Streetly had all to play for. After a half time team talk, the girls came back as strong and broke forward with many chances they were unlucky not to convert.

Excellent play down the left hand side by Kimberley Thomas and Rosie Streater saw a number of short corners gained, none of which Streetly could convert. Lichfield then scored twice making it 4-2, to which Streetly responded with an excellent passing build up from the defence to the front and a goal by Seamen came from a cross in by Thomas. Lichfield then finished the day by scoring another, making the result 5-3, which is how it stayed. Special mention goes to new keeper Sarah ‘scouse’ Evans who made her debut Saturday and showed an immense amount of potential.

Harveys player of the match goes to Kimberley Thomas.
