Streetly Ladies 1sts 6 - 0 Stone 3rds
The first Staffordshire league game for the Ladies first team saw a positive start to the season with a big score line for the girls. With the bear 11, the girls worked extremely well together and showed a positive attitude on the pitch and consequently a successful game of hockey. The first goal came from Angie Griffin in the first half; waiting at the back post to sweep in a well worked build up from the midfield. With a 1-0 lead at half time and an inspirational team talk from Coach Jason, Streetly came out strong with more goals in their sights. An injury to Niki Key saw a shift in formation, playing her as a high centre forward and adjusting the midfield.
This paid off with two quick goals coming from Rosie Streater and new player Amy Perrow to make the score 3-0. Next saw a trademark run from Jayne Smewin, bounce passing the ball with Naomi Dartnell to see a struggle from the Stone defence, resulting in a penalty flick for Streetly. Smewin made no mistake in finding the bottom left hand corner from the flick, making the score line 4-0. With the girls on a high more goals came; another from Perrow and a well worked short corner resulting in a goal for Stableford. Special mention goes to Jess Aston for her outstanding performance in goal and also for saving a penalty flick. Next week sees Streetly travel to Cannock for what they hope to be another convincing win.

Streetly 1sts 3 - 0 Wolverhampton & Tettenall 3rds
This week saw a crucial top of the table clash for the girls which, if they won, would fill them with confidence to finish the season in style. 100% effort and commitment was required from the first eleven which every single person on the pitch showed. The first goal came in the first half and was scored by Rosie Streater after a well worked short corner routine was deflected in at the far post. The girls continued to work well together, with an awesome defensive display shown by Emma MacDonald, Linda Cresswell and Emma Cosgrove. The midfield worked greatly together with Devereux and Stableford showing great understanding of their roles and communication with each other. The two wingers, Streater and Byass both played well, giving outlets and support to go forward.
The second goal then came after a good build up, and Tammy Davies receiving the ball on the oppositions 23 yard line to take it round the keeper and find the bottom corner. With a 2-0 lead at half time, Streetly felt confident of a win but did not get complacent. This paid off with a goal from Angie Griffin, after a cross in from Jenie Byass. A mention goes to Kimberley Thomas for her commitment and good work off the ball on Saturday.
Harveys player of the match goes to Jenny Devereux for her outstanding play in the centre of the park.

Streetly 1sts 10 - 0 Stafford 4ths
A confident Streetly side welcomed Stafford to their home ground this weekend for an afternoon encounter in horrendous weather conditions! The girls put on an excellent display looking extremely dangerous going forward. The first goal came from a good midfield build up from Linda Gawthorpe, Michelle Kay and Lizzie Farrow resulting in a goal for Tammy Davies. Davies then struck again minutes later from the top of the D. Streetly won themselves a short corner that was converted well by Rosie Streater and not long after Lizzie Farrow found the back of the net after an awesome run down the centre of the pitch. The Streetly defence seemed untroubled for the duration of the game but stood their ground well, passing the ball well around the back when needed.
The score at half times stood at 4-0 and the second half saw another bunch of goals for the first eleven. After a discussion on attacking tactics the girls put what they had learnt in training from Coach Booth to result in two more goals for Streater. The girls then battled well in the rain to win themselves a penalty flick, which was confidently placed by Jayne Smewin, seeing the number of goals increase to 7. The final 20 minutes saw a great display of skill, speed and determination from Jenie Byass, dominating the right hand side on the attack finding Streater for her hat-trick and two goals for herself, which were thoroughly deserved.
Harvey’s player of the match goes to Tammy Davies for her brilliant attacking display on Saturday and her overall outstanding effort on the pitch.

Streetly 1sts 3 - 1 Erdington
Tunnicliffe League
Streetly Ladies 1sts played their last game before the Christmas break on Saturday and came away with yet another convincing victory. Against a team one division against them in the Staffordshire league, the girls put on a good show of skilful play and excellent teamwork to get the win. Streetly went 1-0 down after 15 minutes after a misunderstanding in defence resulting in a nicely finished goal by Erdington. This gave the girls the push they needed to fight back. The girls dominated the first half with chance after chance which finally came after an excellent advantage was given by the umpire to let Rosie Streater take the ball around the Erdington defence and score a trademark goal.
The half time team talk filled the girls with confidence and determination to get the win they so desperately wanted and after an awesome display in midfield by Devereux and Davies; the ball fell to Emily Peers who crossed in a pinpoint accurate cross resulting in another goal for Streater. Peers continued to play brilliant hockey and showed no fear in attacking the ball and making good tackles. Streetly then suffered an injury to their trusty centre back which caused a shift in positions but this did not faze Streetly as another well worked goal came when Peers found Davies, who drove the backline to find Cresswell who slotted home for Streetlys third. The score remained at 3-1 and Streetly finished with a deserved victory.
Harvey’s player of the match goes to Emily Peers for her fantastic display of skill and by far one of the best games she has played this season.
